100 photos #3

Image result for d-day robert capa

1. I think I picked this image because of how it looks and the fact that it is out of focus and blurry, it also looks like the background was painted with watercolor and like brushed out to make it look blurry and out of focus.

2. The photographer traveled with the troops to the landing of D-day and his photos helped show how brutal and scary war is. His photo is of Hudson Riley walking to land and showing his struggle in the water. The photographer was there taking photos while men around him died and was out in the open and his photos are blurry to give that sense of action and movement in the image.

American Solider

1. I think the most powerful image from the article is the first image shown, In the Army now, because they usually put the best image first to tell you what the story will be about.

2. The images work together to tell a story because the go in order of the events that happened and almost give you that feeling of being there yourself.

3. The captions enhance the photographs because they give more information then the story itself and puts more of that imagery into place than what the story says.

4. Ian Fisher decided to enlist in the army at the age of 17 after he heard that violence was spiking in Iraq. After graduating from high school, he visits the Army recruiting office to talk to Sgt. Joseph Camarillo who has served in Iraq. His friends and family through him a going party and he gets his medical exam from the Army and leaves for the Army. Soon after arriving to the Army they start basic training and learns saluting positions and using weapons. During September they get ready for the Turning Blue ceremony and get their assignment afterwards. In March he joins a new group with Spec. Andrew Smith and Spec. Ryon Rich. Later on some soldiers think that Fisher is going AWOL from always going home every weekend and think that he should stay there. But ends up returning and still being a part of the Army. Fisher gets in trouble for coming back late from a home visit and has a drug problem too. During September of 2008 Fisher is deployed to Iraq. About one year later Fisher returns home to a celebration.

5. Most of the verbs in the photos are past tense.

6. There are on average about 3 sentences for a caption in this article.

7. Most of the first sentences in the story give you move of that background information that you need to understand more of the photo.

8. Most of the second sentences in the story give you information about is happening in the photo at that moment.

9. Most of the captions that do have a third sentence are usually a quote from Fisher or someone who helps him in a way in the photo.

10. Yes there are some captions that have a quote.

11. There are a couple of captions that have four sentences.

12. I think that you can tell a story with just photographs and captions because, we read mainly the captions to tell us what is happening because most of the captions are in order of how these events happened.

13. We don't write stories as photos and captions because they are only good for some stories while other stories can't really be told with captions and photo, but use photo to show you a visual.

100 photos #2

Image result for michael jordan photography by co rentmeester 1.) I chose this image because of the few colors in the photo and because of the color that is seen. One thing that caught my eye was how high off the ground he is and because of the bright and pretty sun in the background.

2.) It is just about the most famous silhouette to ever be photographed and is the real young Micheal Jordan in 1984. They say it gained it fame from Nike as they used this photo as its logo for its first Air Jordan sneakers. The logo was put onto everything and was the most popular commercial icons of all time.

3.) Didn't see any links??

5.) This photographer's name is Co Rentmeester and was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on February 28 in 1936 and is currently 82 years old. He went to school at The Art Center College in Los Angeles and got a bachelor's degree in arts.

Fashion

1. They changed her neck by making is longer and skinnier, they also made her eyes bigger, gave her a lighter skin tone and moved her head up to make the neck longer, made her ear smaller, and made her face more oval.

2. They made her darker and gave her highlight so her body would glow, they made her stomach smaller and legs longer, and they made her legs smaller or "slimmer", and they moved her head up to give her a taller neck.

3. They changed everything and made her into a model and was originally a piece of pizza.

4. I think yes and no. Yes, because this helps people sell their product. No, because it's a lie and apparently some "models" aren't real people.

5. Yes, like totally making a person up out of pizza to try and sell a product that probably doesn't work.

6. I think that changing a person face like their makeup and hair are ok, because your not necessarily changing them total. But to change their body shape into a lie is wrong because its not believable and isn't the right way to ty and sell something.

7. The only difference that I can think of is the fact that we don't use models and plan a big photoshoot with a person.

8. Well in way it gives people that hope that they can have that, and then to learn that its totally not true is something that shouldn't be done and taking alway that type of hope.

9. I think that we watched these videos to see how far you can go in photoshop but shouldn't go that far to create a non-believable photo.

10. I think that none of these videos are guys because it is harder to photoshop them and give them that type of "model'' body that you usually see while its easier to photoshop girls.

mural project questions

1.) My three ideas of what my group could take photos of are Austin and what makes it so special. My second idea is fall and some of its different holidays. Finally my third idea is maybe tech and how it is evolving into everyday lives.

2.) Three things that you need to think about when shooting are making sure that the camera is in focus, trying to use one of the photo techniques, and maybe ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.

3.) To get these projects online we can always do a power point type thing, a short movie type of thing, or an animation of some sort.

99 Cent

1.) I think I chose this photo because of all the color and how well organized the photo looks and also how it's a photo of a store. The one main thing that caught my eye was the color and how amazingly organized the photo looks just from the color of it.

2.) Andreas Gursky's photo is a large scale photo of a bunch of other photos of 99 cent only stores put together. Gursky uses a digital manipulation and a distinct composition to turn his work into art.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              3.)                                                                                                                                                                                                                 4.)
